Our Story
Alberta is home to a growing South African diaspora. Government statistics show that between 2009 and 2013 Alberta received 1,621 immigrants from South Africa, alongside 998 temporary foreign workers and 279 international students. The South African Association of Alberta was formed to bring this community together – to offer a support network, celebrate heritage days, help newcomers settle and share the vibrant culture of the Rainbow Nation with our Canadian friends.
Our members come from all walks of life: families, young professionals, students and longtime residents. We celebrate diversity within the South African community and welcome all who are interested in learning about our culture, languages and traditions
